Sustainable Statements: Lakme Fashion Week x FDCI Day 2 Shines With Eco-Conscious Style

The second day of Lakme Fashion Week x FDCI was a testament to fashion's growing commitment to sustainability. On the runway, stunning collections championed eco-friendly practices without sacrificing an inch of style.

Celebrity Showstoppers Champion Sustainable Statements

Leading designers like Inca, Chola, and Urvashi Kaur presented their latest creations, each featuring a captivating celebrity muse.

  • Dia Mirza opened the show for Inca's "Love is a Verb" collection, designed by Amit Hansraj. Dia glided down the runway in a fluid metallic grey ensemble layered with black organza. The collection, as the notes suggest, encourages the wearer to embrace comfort and movement while remaining undeniably glamorous. Sustainable fabrics, including silk and satin derived from recycled materials, brought the vision to life.

"I'm truly impressed by the fluidity in Inca's designs," Dia remarked. "They exude a sense of freedom and relaxation, making sustainable fashion accessible to everyone."

  • Konkona Sen Sharma and Neha Dhupia took the stage for designer Sohaya Misra's label Chola, showcasing the "Let's Play" collection. Inspired by the Japanese tea ceremony, the collection highlights harmony, respect, purity, and tranquility. Konkona donned a sophisticated black two-piece complemented by a flowy white organza top adorned with a floral motif. Neha, on the other hand, redefined power dressing with flared black pants, a striped white top, and an asymmetric waistcoat, accentuated by bold red eye makeup and platform boots.

  • Urvashi Kaur's "Prana" collection, an extension of her "Renew" project, celebrated 15 years of sustainable fashion. This collection breathes new life into archival textiles, promoting zero-waste practices and upcycling techniques. Her muses, a distinguished group including Ratna Pathak Shah, Tillotama Shome, Rasika Duggar, Shweta Tripathi, and Mallika Dua, each wore meticulously crafted ensembles that reflected their unique personalities. Ratna sported a charming blue and white striped asymmetrical dress, while Tillotama stunned in a red midi dress with a plunging neckline, a pleated skirt, and striking red vinyl boots.

Lakme Fashion Week x FDCI championed sustainability throughout the event. This commitment reflects the growing importance of ethical practices in the fashion industry.
